Coming to Barcelona for Christmas is always a good idea considering that there are many Catalan traditions of the region. At this time of year, the city of Barcelona becomes a special destination to spend the holidays with your beloved ones. From the feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Christmas decorations begin to be put on and in that time is when the Christmas season is proclaimed with the illumination of all the main streets of Barcelona.

In this post we bring you the most famous traditions and the most emblematic places of the city that must be seen for these Christmas dates in Barcelona.

Moreover, a good place to walk around the city of Barcelona is the Plaça de Sant Jaume where this year you will see the manger dedicated to the poem of J.V. Foix. As well as attending the Cathedral of Barcelona where from the end of November you can visit the Fira de Santa Llúcia, where you can find the famous “caga tió”, figures of crib, nougat candy or buy a Christmas tree.

Gifts are an essential part of Christmas and one of the reasons why coming to Barcelona is because there are a variety of shops to choose from for all tastes. If you are staying at our Hotel Negresco Princess located in the center and you are close to Passeig de Gràcia or Portal del Àngel you can find the best national and international brands. However, if you like to make more original gifts, Barcelona is a very good option for its multiple second-market markets that take place in December, such as the Flea Market or Lost & Found.
