The most beautiful beaches of La Palma
Fuencaliente is, besides the warmest area of the island, one of the most beautiful municipalities, because it is where volcanoes (San Antonio and Teneguía volcanoes), vineyards, lighthouses, wild beaches and spectacular salt mines meet.
Two beaches are a must: Fuencaliente Lighthouse Beach and Playa Nueva (with its pools or natural pools of Playa Nueva). This beach (also called Echentive, due to its pre-Hispanic toponym) is protected by a cliff and is made of volcanic sand and stones. It is almost a wild beach and, although access is by car, the unique beauty of this spot, with its natural swimming pools of crystalline and green waters, is well worth it. In fact, we will be delighted to tell you the story of its creation and the reason for its name (Playa Nueva) and its relationship with the natural spa of healing waters, the Fuente Santa.
Outside Fuencaliente, the beaches of Nogales, Arenas Blancas (or Salameras) and Los Cancajos are other famous beaches that we recommend you visit.
The Playa de Nogales is one of the best rated beaches on La Palma for its beauty. A wild beach with intricate access (up and down a path of steps), it offers you an unforgettable image, full of colours and natural elements in contrast: the blue of the Atlantic, the black of its sand and cliffs and green, a lot of green. Often chosen for surfing.
The Blanca Arenas Blancas de La Palma owes its name precisely to the light colour of its sand, which is not usual on the beaches of Isla Bonita. It is a small beach with a lot of charm, thanks to the presence of huts and boats and the abundant remains of shells and molluscs.
The Playa de Los Cancajos is one of the most famous beaches of La Palma. Close to Santa Cruz de la La Palma, it is covered by the classic volcanic sand and protected by a volcanic stone breakwater, which makes its waters calm. It is one of the most chosen beaches for diving.
Other places of interest on La Palma
The National Park of the Caldera de Taburiente is one of the places you cannot miss. At 2,000 metres above sea level, multiple streams and waterfalls emerge from the centuries-old pine forests that populate both the summits (El Roque de los Muchachos or La Cumbrecita) and the bottom of the impressive Caldera.
The capital, Santa Cruz de la Palma, is also a visit of tourist interest. The Mercado de Abastos, the Avenida Marítima, the Calle Real, the Iglesia de Santo Domingo… Live and discover the endless charm of Isla Bonita and its capital!
