One of the most popular tourist attractions in Jamaica are the extraordinary white sandy beaches.

The following are some of the best in the area:

Green Island Bay: Just five minutes away by car, this is the most popular beach among tourists. The reason is obvious: the crystal-clear waters and white sand make it the ideal place to relax in the sun or enjoy water activities such as snorkelling.
Tryall Beach: Located half an hour from our hotels, this beach allows you to relax, swim and enjoy the views without thinking about anything else.
Seven Mile Beach: Within a convenient 30-minute drive, you will find the mesmerising Seven Mile Beach in Negril. This enchanting paradise boast seven miles of powdery soft sand, gently lapped by crystal clear Caribbean waters creating a magical haven for relaxation and adventure.

Silver Sands Beach: Two hours’ drive from the Princess Hotels, this beach has very calm waters, perfect for water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Gastronomy

Jamaica is an explosion of flavours and aromas, influenced by many culinary traditions, including European, Indigenous, Asian and African. The result is a delicious and varied cuisine. Your holiday in Jamaica would not be complete without trying some of the following dishes:

Jerk Chicken: This is one of Jamaica’s specialities. The chicken is cooked with various hot spices over a grill.
Ackee and Saltfish: A combination of salt cod and the fruit of the ackee tree. You can add pepper, onion and tomato for your liking and it goes well with just about any side. You won’t regret it.
Curry Goat: This is another popular dish among locals. It is usually cooked with cumin, turmeric, coriander and coconut milk. Served with rice and peas.
Patties: If you like empanadas, patties will not disappoint. These pasties are filled with vegetables, meat or fish, whatever you prefer. They are usually sold to take away.

Escovitch fish: This dish consists of fried fish covered with pepper, onion and vinegar sauce, served with vegetables and/or coconut bread.
Festival: Just the name of the dish makes you want to try it! This is a type of fried bread that is usually eaten as an accompaniment to other previously mentioned dishes such as jerk chicken. It can be made with wheat flour or maize flour.
Rice and Peas: A simple but no less appetising dish that can be eaten alongside any other Jamaican dish. It is simply rice cooked with peas, spices and coconut milk.
Red stripe Beer: It’s a light, lager-like beer with a smooth body and aroma, one that will surprise you when you try it and make you want to have another one.
Appleton rum: A delicious blend of 15 golden aged rums with a warm honey colour, fruity aroma and exquisite flavour.
Bob Marley (whether frozen or as shots): It is an exquisite rum-based drink, layered with the colours red, yellow and green, which are also the colours of the Rastafarian flag.

How to reach us

From Sangster International Airport (MBJ), there are a number of transport options to get to our resorts. The scenic journey should take approximately 70 minutes driving.

Book a transfer: Before you arrive, you can contact a local transfer company and arrange a round trip airport transfer to and from hotel. When you arrive, ready to enjoy your holiday, all you have to do is look for the person with your name on a sign.
Take a taxi: When you do not have pre-arranged transport, you may need to use a taxi. Authorised taxis can be taken from the airport and we recommend to check prices on arrival.

Take a bus: You can also book a bus ride on arrival at the airport. This is cheaper than a taxi, but with more people and fixed stops along the route.
Hire a car: At Sangster Airport, you have the option of hiring a rental car and travelling on your own. Leading car rental companies in the airport offer a variety of options to suit all customer needs. They have many different types of vehicles to choose from.

Travel tips

We recommend that you consider the following tips and suggestions before travelling to Jamaica:

The electrical current is 110V and the plugs are type A and B (the same as those used in the United States and Mexico, among other countries).
Once in Jamaica, you can exchange your currency for Jamaican dollars. Prices are usually quoted in both Jamaican dollars and US dollars. You can use your debit or credit card, however, it’s best to have cash on hand as you may wish to pay tips and make purchases at local markets.
The country has a tropical climate and warm temperatures all year round. The average temperature is 27ºC (81ºF), although in the mountains you may occasionally need a light jacket, as the average temperature is around 22ºC (72ºF). Don’t forget to bring sunscreen.
Enhance the delight of your vacation by ensuring that insect repellent finds its place in your suitcase, as the humid environment of the area makes it an indispensable item for your comfort and enjoyment.
