World Wetlands Day at Princess Hotels Punta Cana
At Princess Hotels Punta Cana, we are constantly promoting social actions, not only within our community, but also to improve our environment.
Thanks to our Corporate Social Responsibility programme, Princess And You 360, we are able to carry out all these actions.
On 2 February, World Wetlands Day, we wanted to pay tribute and raise awareness of the importance of caring for these fragile ecosystems, so important for biodiversity.
Which Princess Punta Cana hotels participated?
The following hotels joined forces to send a contingent of volunteers to the famous Macao Beach, which is about twenty minutes away from Princess Punta Cana:
Princess Family Club Bavaro and Grand Bavaro Princess, on the other hand, chose to carry out a beach clean-up with volunteers from different departments of the hotel, in order to raise awareness among beachgoers about the importance of caring for and preserving the environment.
We took action
As Macao is outside the hotel grounds, a bus picked up the 21 volunteers who volunteered to clean up the area around Macao Beach at around 9am.
The clean-up took over an hour, during which the volunteers cleared the mangrove area adjacent to the beach and some sections of the beach.
More than 16 bags of rubbish were collected, mainly plastics, packaging and cans. Some locals approached us curiously to watch the cleaning activity, and although they were not encouraged to join in, they accepted an awareness talk about how they could contribute to the upkeep of the beach.
The beach belongs to all of us, and we can all do our bit. Would you like to help? Let us know.
