Ladies in Carnival 2022 – Riviera Maya

After two long years of waiting due to the pandemic, the “Ladies in Carnival” event was finally held on the 30th of March, organized by volunteers at the Solidaridad DIF System. This event was for a great cause as all proceeds will be used to support people in vulnerable situations. 

This year, the money raised will go to the Temporary Assistance House (CAT), which provides shelter for children. 

Revived as a Phoenix

The theme was “The Phoenix, a Carnival of fantasy, revived with joy!“. Events of this type have been affected by the pandemic in recent years but, fortunately, we have bounced back with joy, as the title of the event suggests. 

The event took place in the theatre at Grand Riviera Princess. As well as providing the space, the hotel also supported the event logistics as it prepared to receive all the carnival visitors. 

Women united

Ladies in Carnival is an event organised by women for women. As well as being an event for a good cause, it is also an opportunity to have fun in a safe and friendly environment, where women can express themselves without having to worry. 

The Mayor, Lili Campos, indicated that the aim of these events is to understand the importance of women being united and supporting each other. 

The event was attended by representatives of DIF Systems of other municipalities in Quintana Roo, headed by the Director General of the State DIF, María Elba Carranza Aguirre, and Honorary President of the Municipal DIF, Rosita Escobedo, as well as the Mayor of Solidaridad, Lili Campos . 

Two competitions were held during the event: formal and comedy troupes and costume contests (group and individual) in the same categories. In addition, a contest was held to choose the Carnival Queen, and this year’s winner was Fary Moguel Riveroll, “Farinha”.
