On Saturday, September 24, 2022, an unprecedented event took place in the history of Princess Hotels Riviera Maya, our First Princess 5k Race.

As part of our social responsibility program, Princess and You 360, Grand Riviera Princess in collaboration with AMANC (Mexican Association for Assistance to Children with Cancer) organized the 5K and 1K Princess races, in which guests, hotel associates, suppliers, business partners and the general public ran with a single objective: helping children with cancer.

At 6:00 am, the participants started arriving, full of energy and very excited about the race. Although the appointment was at 6:30 am, many decided to arrive earlier to start warming up. People of all ages competed in the event, with a total of 210 runners.

Before starting, Mr. Alberto Selas, General Manager of the resort, thanked the participants and of course the sponsors, since thanks to them this event was possible.

Paulina Castillo, founder and president of AMANC Quintana Roo also had some words of gratitude and motivation for runners, concluding with the quote “Together we are stronger than cancer”.

Throughout the 5 kilometers, the participants ran, jogged and walked, since it was not about winning but about collaborating, and everyone was doing that simply by being there. Obviously, there were winners and they deserve their credit for that:

  • In the women’s category, Miss. Nohely Canul took first place becoming a champion.
  • Our winner of the men’s category was Mr. Cutberto Vázquez, a hotel guest, who unfortunately could not receive his prize because he had to leave for the airport, however, Mateo, one of the association’s children and a life fighter, took the podium symbolically, taking first place.
  • And of course, not to forget the winner of the children’s category, little Omar Foglia.

In addition to the winners of the first 3 places in each category, more than 40 participants were awarded a prize through a raffle, courtesy of our sponsors.

It goes without saying that all the contestants were winners from the start, since they won something very important: the happiness of helping those who need it most.

At the end of the event, everyone received a symbolic medal, commemorating our 1st Princess-Amanc 2022 5K and 1K Princess-Amanc race, as a reminder that, if we want to, we can achieve great things.

Donation to AMANC

Thanks to everyone’s support, we managed to exceed our goal and collect a considerable amount that will be used to support 138 children who fight against this disease every day.

Treatment against cancer is one of the most expensive in existence and in addition to that, families must bear expenses such as transportation, food, supplies, and medicines, which are becoming increasingly difficult to cover for those who are in this fight. There is still a long way to go, but this time not only 5 kilometers were covered, but 5 kilometers against childhood cancer.

If you want to know more about AMANC, visit their website and discover the great work they do: https://amancquintanaroo.org/

Thanks to you!

Thank you participants

Finally, we want to thank everyone who participated in this noble cause, every effort adds up and can change lives, and you can collaborate.

In addition, we invite our future guests to participate in our Princess and You 360 program together with Pack for a Purpose. Try to make a small space in your luggage to bring toys, school supplies, clothes, personal hygiene items and medications.

So that they can later be channeled by our team at Princess Hotels, and donated to associations such as AMANC, among many others.

Did you like the experience? Tell us and let us know what you think, we are happy to read what you have to say!
