Things to do around the Maspalomas Princess Hotel

If what you want for your next holiday is a resort where you can enjoy yourself with your family, relax in the sun and discover unique places, the Maspalomas Princess in Gran Canaria is the hotel for you.

This 4-star hotel in the town of Maspalomas was partially refurbished in 2019 with a modern, welcoming style in all its rooms. It is a resort designed for families, with a playground and waterpark for children, although there is also an area for adults only with a chill out terrace surrounded by palm trees. And for sports lovers, a sports precinct and a wellness area.

Looking beyond all that the hotel offers, here are four plans to enjoy other attractions in the south of Gran Canaria.

Visit the Dunas de Maspalomas Natural Park

Maspalomas Dunes

From the resort, a road runs along the Tirajana ravine and this will take you to one of the places you definitely have to visit when you stay with us: the Dunas de Maspalomas Nature Reserve.

In the morning you can go for a very pleasant walk and see the dawn or start the day more energetically by jogging, while in the evening these impressive dunes are ideal for a stroll or a bike ride with the family to watch how the sun slips below the horizon. The spectacular desert landscape of the golden sand dunes of Maspalomas is truly impressive, however many times you visit them.

Along the same route that takes you to the Nature Reserve, you will also reach the iconic Maspalomas lighthouse, one of the symbols of the island and the starting point of Boulevar de Meloneras, an exclusive avenue full of restaurants and shops

A walk through the Maspalomas Botanical Gardens

Maspalomas Botanical Gardens

In San Bartolomé de Tirajana, where the Maspalomas area is located, you will find the Maspalomas Botanical Gardens. Just 29 minutes’ walk or a 3-minute drive from the Maspalomas Princess, you can enjoy a corner full of fascinating plant life.

The park, to which entrance is free, covers 12,000 square metres and contains more than 500 plant species. A tropical garden full of palm trees, fruit trees, aquatic, aromatic and medicinal plants and spices native to Macaronesia.

The gardens have an interpretation centre and leisure activities are organised so that children learn to differentiate species from each other through a range of clues and workshops on biodiversity.

More adventurous options

Instructor and student paragliding in Maspalomas

So far we have suggested relaxing plans for the whole family but in Maspalomas, near our hotel, there are activities that can give you a real adrenaline rush.

This area in the south of the island is very popular with lovers of paragliding. If you go to Playa del Inglés, you will see how paragliders descend to the beach after a spectacular flight with views from the air of the coast and the mountains in the centre of the island. This unique activity will give you an unforgettable experience as part of your holidays.

If you are not too confident about doing this activity, remember that you will have all necessary safety measures and will be accompanied by an expert instructor who will ensure your flight is a success.

Sport with sea views

Golf club and ball in Maspalomas

Did you know that the oldest golf course in Spain is located in Gran Canaria? The Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas was founded in 1891. This sport, of Scottish origin, was introduced by British families in the nineteenth century and since then Gran Canaria has been a favourite destination among golf lovers.

In the south of the island, where the Maspalomas Princess is located, you will find the Maspalomas Golf Club. Its privileged location gives players a view of the sea and the endless Maspalomas dunes.

It is a flat 18-hole course with long, wide fairways designed by the architect Philip Mackenzie Ross.

The golf club is very near the Maspalomas Princess Hotel, so, even if you are not a player or a fan of this sport, you can visit the site and see the experts in action.

And just eight minutes by car from the hotel you have another spectacular golf course: Meloneras Golf. The course has 18 holes and, as you proceed, you will enjoy great sea views. The course is designed for beginners to take their first steps in the sport and for more experienced players.

Please note that the Maspalomas Princess offers a 10% discount on bookings for golf lovers. Use the promotional code GOLFERPRINCESS.

So, which plan will you choose? Why not all of them? The south of Gran Canaria and the Maspalomas Princess Hotel are the perfect destination for your next getaway break or holiday.

We look forward to seeing you!
