II Race against Childhood Cancer Princess Riviera Maya | 2023
On the 30th of September last, at 6.30 am, the surroundings of the Grand Riviera and Grand Sunset Princess hotels were abuzz with anticipation and solidarity.
Guests, employees and the general public came together for a day of sports that transcends the simple act of running. The Second Princess 5K Run was not only a competition, but also an event that demonstrated the spirit of supporting a noble cause.
In conjunction with the collaboration of the Mexican Association for the Aid of Children with Cancer (AMANC) and our social responsibility programme, which is known as Princess and You 360, the activity was carried out as part of the commitment of Princess Hotels Riviera Maya.
Run to the Rhythm of Solidarity
From the very start the race had a special twist, as each participant received wireless headphones similar to those used at silent parties, but with a different purpose.
These headphones were programmed to automatically tune into different genres of live music along the route, providing a musical accompaniment that made the experience unforgettable.
From the beginning of the race the words of thanks offered by the hotel’s general manager, Rubén Martínez, resonated in the hearts of the participants, highlighting the importance of joining forces to support children with cancer and their families.
Paulina Castillo, the founder and director of AMANC Quintana Roo, shared some heart-warming words, reminding us all why every step in the race was a step towards hope and solidarity.
After an exciting race winners were announced in the different categories:
- Men’s: Jesús Villegas
- Women’s: Rosa Cruz
- Children: Rubén Martínez
In addition to the winners’ prizes all participants received a commemorative medal of the 2nd Princess – AMANC 5K-1K Run. These medals serve as a constant reminder of the importance of this worthy cause.
In addition to the category prizes the generosity of the sponsors was demonstrated via a raffle that awarded lucky gifts to a number of participants.
A Cheque of Hope
At the end of the race a symbolic cheque representing the total amount raised by the support of all participants was handed over. This sum was even more valuable in terms of offering hope and support for children with cancer and their families.
Thanks to the participation of 222 people who registered for the 2nd Princess 5K-1K, a total of 30 families were offered some level of support.
