Simple hike through the Cañadas del Teide
There are more than 40 trails that allow you to enjoy Teide and its landscapes, but the Siete Cañadas route is one of the most popular. It is well loved because it is simple, with hardly any gradient, and because the 16-kilometre trail takes you past ancient shepherds’ settlements, red and blue tajinastes, as well as picturesque magma lava flows resulting from the different eruptions that have taken place here.
The route starts at the Portillo Visitor Centre, crosses the wall of the Caldera de Las Cañadas, and finishes at the Cañada Blanca Visitor Centre.
We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes, take sun protection (even if it’s not sunny, at an altitude of over 2,000 metres the ultraviolet rays are very strong) and patience. Patience to calmly admire the geological formations, the local vegetation and, of course, the protagonist throughout the route, Mount Teide in all its immensity.
