Taurito Beach: A hidden gem between the cliffs in Gran Canaria

By | 21 September, 2023 | 0 comments

Taurito Beach

Ready to visit one of the most special places in Gran Canaria? Discover Taurito beach with us, located in the municipality of Mogán, famous for its wonderful views and sunsets. It’s also a place where fun is guaranteed, as it has a great range of water sports on offer. A hidden gem between the cliffs surrounded by our Taurito Princess, TUI BLUE Suite Princess and Mogán Princess hotels. Discover all its secrets!

A small, dark sand beach

Taurito beach lies between Mogán beach and Puerto Rico, in the southwest of Gran Canaria. This beach, just 160 metres long, is characterised by its dark sand and for being surrounded by mountains in the form of cliffs that create a beautiful and unique landscape.

Taurito is a tourist area surrounded by hotels, with everything you need to spend a family holiday. Here the good weather is assured almost 365 days a year, with an average temperature of 21 degrees, while the water temperature oscillates between 18 and 22 degrees.

For the most curious travellers, this beach hides a secret in its southern area, as when there is a low tide you can visit a succession of sea caves from which you can admire a fabulous sunset. A paradise for photographers!

How to get to Taurito Beach

Taurito Beach access road

There are several options to reach Taurito Beach. The fastest and most convenient way is by vehicle along the two main routes starting from different points of Gran Canaria.

The first is via the GC-1, the island’s main highway: take exit 67, towards Taurito, and you’ll get there without any problems!

Another option is the picturesque GC-500, a coastal route that offers you stunning views of the southern Canary Island landscape. Please note that this road is closed between Taurito and Playa de Mogán and when you reach the parking area, spaces may be limited.

If you prefer to use public transport, you can take a range of bus routes to Taurito Beach. The Global company manages the lines that connect this place with other areas of Gran Canaria. They are the following:

1: Las Palmas de G.C.- Puerto de Mogán

32: Playa del Inglés – Puerto de Mogán

33: Playa del Inglés – Puerto Rico- Puerto de Mogán

70: Palmitos Park – Puerto Rico

91: Las Palmas de G.C. – Puerto de Mogán (direct)

Don’t forget that the best way to enjoy the wonders of Taurito Beach is to stay in some of the hotels in the area. At Princess, we have three hotels located in the surroundings of the beach, which are characterised by spectacular panoramic views.

Guests with all the amenities of Mogán Princess can enjoy drinks and snacks at the Beach Club, which is located at the foot of the beach!

Taurito Princess and TUI BLUE Suite Princess guests will enjoy a discount. Discover our offers and experience Princess.

What to do at Taurito Beach

This small, privileged corner of Gran Canaria offers a multitude of activities. Take a refreshing dip, relax in the sun, do some of the water activities on offer, watch stunning sunsets or discover the beautiful natural caves…

The beach has a lifeguard service all year round. You’ll also be surrounded by the best services, as you’ll find everything you need to enjoy a great day at the beach in the area, such as sunbed and umbrella rentals from €3.50 a day, several bars and restaurants, shops and even a water sports centre!

We’ll tell you what to do and see on Taurito Beach:

The best water activities

Jet skis at Taurito beach

Taurito Beach offers a wide range of possibilities for having lots of fun in the water. At the Water Sports Centre, located next to Taurito Princess, you can take part in different activities, such as kayaking, parasailing, water bikes, as well as snorkelling and diving, as the area is perfect for watching whales and fish.

Opening hours are from 10:00 to 17:00 in summer, and until 16:00 for the rest of the year.

Also opposite the beach you can find the Oasis Lago Taurito, the only seawater park in the Canary Islands. It has a wide variety of attractions and slides for adults and children, a wellness area with spa and other leisure activities, such as bowling, mini golf, tennis… Open until 18:00.

Caves hidden beneath the tide

Sunset from the Taurito caves

But that’s not all. This beach hides a natural treasure! We are referring to the magical caves that are only visible at low tide. You can access this secret corner on the left side of the beach through a sandy walkway, so access is safe for everyone.

We recommend visiting the caves at sunset, as they face southwest, allowing you to photograph one of the most incredible sunsets from the inside. You’ll be amazed by the view!

Take the perfect photo

Sunset at Taurito Beach

We wouldn’t be exaggerating if we told you that from Taurito you can see one of the best sunsets on the island, with shades of orange that will leave you super impressed. This beach is ideal for photography lovers, as capturing a dream moment is within everyone’s reach!

You can enjoy sunsets from the beach or sip a cocktail at any of the bars located right in front of the sea.

Stay near Taurito Beach

Mogán Princess Beach Club

If you are thinking about spending your holidays in Gran Canaria, don’t hesitate any longer. Taurito is a great choice for a few days of fun, especially if you’re travelling with your family. In this excellent area, we can offer you a choice of three of our hotels, all with views of the fabulous Taurito beach!

If you’re travelling with your family, we recommend the Taurito Princess. At this four-star resort, the youngest members of the family will have fun guaranteed, as it has a miniclub, children’s swimming pool and playground. The hotel has a comprehensive, high-quality all-inclusive regime to delight you with great food!

And if absolute tranquillity is what you’re after, we recommend the experience of an adults-only hotel (+16), the TUI BLUE Suite Princess. With an all-inclusive package, it offers a variety of services that guarantee your comfort and well-being. Enjoy our wellness area or a pleasant couple’s massage!

Mogán Princess is a hotel where you can find everything you need to spend a holiday with your partner. It has a separate adults-only swimming pool, but, above all, it stands out for its own Beach Club, located directly on Taurito Beach!

Our hotels also offer a transfer service to the wonderful Puerto de Mogán, known as “the little Venice.”
