Recycling Day

At Princess Hotels Riviera Maya we are committed to improving our surroundings, our community and especially the environment.

In order to meet our objectives we carried out a number of activities as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme, known as Princess & You 360.

Here’s what we did on the 17th of May last, World Recycling Day.

Let’s all help the environment

Reduce, reuse and

“Around 2700 litres of water are needed to make one T-shirt, enough drinking water for one person for two and a half years”. To this you have to add the social impact of the precarious working conditions in factories. These factors make us think about the concept of circular economy and the repurposing of garments before discarding them.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) declared the 17th of May as “World Recycling Day” in an effort to raise awareness about environmental care and educating society about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.

Recycle your clothes

Here at Princess Riviera Maya we carried out a “Recycle your clothes” project with the aim of collecting clothes and donating them to the Quintana Roo communities that need them most. We also carried out the project Pack For a Purpose.

Thanks to the participation of collaborators we collected more than 510 garments, including t-shirts, shorts, blouses, ties and footwear, among others, equivalent to 250 kg, which will now enjoy a second life before being discarded.

Employees who made donations were able to participate in a roulette in which they received a gift by way of thanks.

Collaborate with us

recycle

By means of small actions we can reduce our environmental footprint and, in the long run, make significant change.

We invite you to collaborate with our society and do your bit by recycling your clothes, thereby helping improve our natural environment and support people in a state of vulnerability.

Did you like our project? We’d love to know your opinion, so please leave a comment, we’ll be sure to read it.
