Princess Hotels & Resorts (Canary Islands) – Information about COVID-19

At Princess Hotels & Resorts our main priority is the health, safety, and well-being of our guests and employees. Therefore, we are strictly following the guidelines of the World Health Organization and the local authorities in regards to the evolution of the coronavirus (COVID-19) worldwide.

Given the exceptional circumstances, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience this health crisis may cause you or your loved ones.

Hotels opening

At Princess Hotels & Resorts we were hoping that the time would come when we could announce our return to activity and therefore the reopening of our hotels in the Canary Islands. To make this possible, we have been working on a strict protocol under the motto “Because we Care” that guarantees the quality and the fulfillment of all the sanitary measures imposed by the authorities.

Below are the estimated opening dates of our hotels in the Canary Islands, which we have established in our de-escalation plan, provided that the health crisis allows us to do so.

Cancellation policy

For direct bookings made between March 25th and October 31th 2021, for stays from April 1st onwards, Princess Hotels & Resorts in the Canary Islands offers its customers the following cancellation conditions:

Reservations with “Pay in the Hotel” rate: The reservation can be cancelled up to 24 hours prior to arrival without any cancellation fee or penalty. You may also modify the travel dates through the confirmation link sent to your email address.

Reservations with non-refundable rate: The travel dates may be postponed up to one year. However, the amount paid will not be refunded. The respective amount will be kept as a deposit for future bookings.

If the reservation is changed to a period with a higher rate, the difference between the deposit (original booking) to the new reservation must be paid

If the reservation is changed to a period with a lower rate, a voucher will be offered for consumption at the hotel and/or for upgrading to a higher room or a higher board type until the total amount already paid for the original booking has been reached.

DECREE LAW 17/200, of 29th October

In compliance with Decree Law 17/2020, of 29 October, on extraordinary measures in the field of tourism to deal with the effects of the health and economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we inform you that from 13 November 2020 the following conditions will have to be met for access to accommodation according to your circumstances:

  • Users over 6 years old who arrive from outside the territory of the Canary Islands must present a certificate of COVID-19 diagnostic test (only PCR (COVID-19 RT-PCR) and rapid antigen detection tests are admitted) to proof they have tested negative for active COVID-19 infection in the 72 hours prior to arrival and that they have not tested positive as a COVID-19 transmitter. The test certificate may be provided on digital or hard copy and it must indicate: the date and time of its completion; the identity of the subject who has being tested; the laboratory responsible for its verification and its nature, as well as its negative result.
  • The test certificate will not be required if you prove, through your travel document, that you have been in Canary Islands territory for the 15 days prior to your check in into the accommodation and you make a declaration that you have not had symptoms compatible with COVID-19 during that time.
  • Canary Islands residents must declare, under their own responsibility, that they have been in Canary Islands territory for the 15 days prior to the check in into the accommodation and that they have not had symptoms compatible with COVID-19 during that time.
  • By confirming this reservation you accept the application of the above conditions for access to the accommodation.
  • In the event of non-compliance with the aforementioned conditions, the accommodation will be obliged to exercise its right of admission by denying access. Exceptionally, if you state your will to take a diagnostic test, we will inform you of the nearest authorized centres and we will allow your access and stay for the time required to obtain the results. Until the obtention of the results, you will not be able to leave your accommodation unit.
  • We also inform you that you must download and keep active during your stay and for 15 days after your return to your place of origin, the Radar Covid tracking app.

Please bear in mind that the above conditions are exclusively for access to accommodation, but that depending on geographical origin of your travel, other additional health control measures may apply to you at points of entry to Spain as we mention below, for information purposes only.

With effect from November 23, 2020 and in accordance with the Resolution of November 11, 2020, of the General Directorate of Public Health, regarding the health controls to be carried out at points of entry in Spain:

If you arrive in Spain (as a final destination) by air or sea, you will have to pass a temperature or fever control at the entry point you arrive at.

Before travelling you must complete a Health Control Form on the website www.spth.gob.es , or the Spain Travel Health-SpTH app. Exceptionally if you have not been able to complete the web form or in cases of entry by sea, the form is available for download and delivery on paper at https://www.mscbs.gob.es/profesionales/saludPublica/sanidadExterior/ControlHS.htm

If you come from a country or risk zone (see update of countries and risk zones at https://www.mscbs.gob.es/ and on the web: https://www.spth.gob.es ) You must have a Diagnostic Test for SARS-Cov-2, up to the 72 hours prior to arrival, that indicates the traveller’s name, passport number or national identity document (which must coincide with the one used in the Health Control Form), date of completion of the test, identification and contact details of the centre that performs the analysis, the technique used and the negative result of the test. The original certificate may be requested at the health control point upon arrival in Spain.

Note that the only diagnostic test admitted at this time is PCR (COVID-19 RT-PCR).

  • If it is not proven that the diagnostic test has been carried out with a negative result or if, after the health check, you are suspected of suffering from COVID-19 or symptoms, you must undergo the test indicated by the health services.
  • The health control can lead to the activation of the corresponding health protocols by the authorities.

Given the extraordinary and changing situation caused by the health crisis, we recommend you to keep you informed through the official authorities for any updates and on the pages indicated in this communication.
