Collaborating with Tapitas x Quimio (Caps x Chemo) at Grand Bávaro Princess

At Princess Hotels Punta Cana, we constantly strive to promote social initiatives that have a positive and significant impact on our community.

In order to achieve this goal, we carry out a series of actions as part of our corporate social responsibility programme, Princess And You 360.
We would like to take this opportunity to talk about the work we are doing at Grand Bávaro Princess to help children with cancer.

The Tapitas x Quimio project was created by three doctors, Sonia Dickson, Katherine Candelario and Lliamel Guzmán, with the aim of reducing pollution and turning it into something that can help children suffering from cancer.

The main project activity is the collection of bottle caps from different parts of the country (in which we participate), which are then sold by weight to recycling companies and the money is donated to NGOs for children with cancer.

The most recent donation was made to the Fundación Amigos Contra el Cáncer Infantil, and Grand Bávaro Princess contributed 81,819 bottle tops to this collection, equivalent to 270 pounds (122 kilos).

FACCI is a non-profit association based in Santo Domingo, founded in 2003 with the sole aim of guaranteeing complete medical care and improving the quality of life of all children and adolescents with cancer, who are mainly treated at the Dr Robert Reid Cabral Children’s Hospital.

Thanks to Tapitas x Quimio and the hotel’s contribution, the children at this hospital will receive treatment and have a better quality of life.

How did the collaboration between Grand Bávaro Princess and Tapitas x Quimio come about?

ollect bottle caps from different areas of the hotel

The idea for this collaboration came from Wendy, an employee at Grand Bávaro Princess, who heard about the Tapitas x Quimio movement during the lockdown and wanted to contribute.

At first, she collected her own bottle caps and those of friends and neighbours and made the deliveries herself. It was a small contribution, but it is always positive to help in any you can.

One day, while she was at work, she visited her colleagues Hilda and Leonardo in the sales office, and they wanted to contribute with packages full of bottle caps, and little by little the amount of plastic we collected grew.

Today, Ms Anselma, the housekeeping manager, collects the caps from the different areas of the hotel and stores them until Wendy comes to collect them and take them to Santo Domingo.

ontribute with your bottle caps by giving them to the hotel workers

But it doesn’t end there, as we are already collecting more caps for the next delivery to another foundation, and we hope to be able to contribute as much or even more!

We are very happy to be able to help in any way we can in the lives of these children.

You can also help by donating your plastic caps to the hotel staff.

Help us to make the world a better place!

Do you like this campaign? Let us know, we would love to hear from you.
